The post in which I say goodbye.
To start this off let me quote P!nk.
Right from the start you were a thief, you stole my heart and I your willing victim. Song here.
Since my untimely retirement I had an amazing chance to hang out with a dog 3 days a week for the whole day!! Since a dog is not really a full time thing that can happen here I was thrilled with the chance. Nick came, and like the song stole my heart.
Not just my heart but MM also had a strange problem that whenever Nick was close MM's voice would change and his hands would reach out and rub whatever part was closest. He added so much to our home. FUR for one. It was everywhere all the time. I even found it in a loaf of bread I baked! He also taught me there is no such thing as a 3 second rule. If you cannot pick it up quicker than him it was gone!
I learned naps and beds are better shared.
As are all fruits and veggies!
Just last month Nick came for a little over a week to hang out with me while his wonderful parents went away. The kids had such a good time with him. Even then he was having issues breathing and it was hard to see.
I guess you are asking why is she rambling about a dog and where is the goodbye?
Well that is the sad part. Nick was very sick for over 1/2 his short life. He had auto immune issues and nothing helped. The one drug that did to some degree made him aggressive and food crazed. There is a technical term but darned if I can remember what it was.
If Nick was a human.. So make him a 30 year old man dealing with cancer. He would be the one dancing, singing, laughing and keeping everybody's moods and spirits up.
Nick might have left this world sick and sad but he forever brightened mine.
Nick spent his last Friday here with me, and its like he knew something was wrong and he was ready to go.
Saturday I took him for a walk butthe sun was too bright for him. We spent lots of time snuggling and me crying into his fur.
Goodbye my favourite Dirty Faced Husky

So ends the chapter...
Which means my retirement begins. Not sure how long it will last and honestly really not too concerned.
Packing up the shop made me feel like a complete and utter failure, as in if only I could have worked harder, sold more stuff, or just done something to make it a success. I know deep down it really had nothing to do with me but it is hard to accept that.
There will be lots of Etsy selling going on and anybody who knows how to get hold of me can still get notions and such.
Still working on my quilt. I have the top sewn now I just have to get the batting and sandwich it together. Then Top stitch and bind it! Then my very first project will be done

Wooohooo Popped my cherry!
Well quilt show Cherry that is! We came, we saw, we sold, and smiled a lot!
It was an eye opening experience seeing how talented the Castlegar ladies are. I say ladies because I did not see any men represented but I do know of a couple men who are fantastic quilters!
The local talent was impressive. Their guild is only 40 strong but there were 100 or just over quilts on show!
I have met both the ladies interviewed for that article. Timmy Jean is a fantastic quilter! She even snow dyes her fabrics! I asked how many month that meant she could dye in and she said at least 6!
Linda Cassidy has such a whimsical nature to her quilts that they seem to come alive! She uses Swarovski crystals, seed beads and anything else to just make it pop!
Both these ladies are so incredibly sweet and good natured and willing to help!
Since it became official this weekend that the shop is closing it makes me feel like I should have or could have done more to keep it afloat. I know that is totally unrealistic so i will just have to get over it!
I picked up these pack of yumminess over the weekend and I really want to make something out of them..... couch blanket anybody??
So they are 5 inch squares and I have 84 of them I already have a backing and or border picked out. But I am stumped on how to sew them together. In color grouping? Pattern groupings or my logic stick them in a bag and reach in???
So tomorrow I get to rest... Thank you Boss Lady :)

Well It's only Tuesday but.....
Damm I need a weekend!
The weekend was fab 2 photo shoots one was a family the other Meliscious' Sister with boyfriend and min pins in tow.
Monday I found out I am soon to be unemployed. I figured it would happen sooner or later but still in that grieving stage. It's hard when you become so wrapped up in your job you forget who you really are. So I think I will take sometime to really figure it out.
Then today got a call no parent wants to get. Not going to talk about it here or perhaps ever anywhere, needs to be dealt with and move on.
But before that call my head has been in a funk. I can only assume I will feel better soon. I remember all the hope and promise the new space was going to offer, the hopes, dreams and ideas. Really seems all for nought now. Tonight would be a bottle of wine and a gauranteed to make me cry night, but not with 3 kids and work in the morning. A lesser woman would have held 7-11 up for all their chocolate!
On the upside I bought my first pair of jammies at Walmart in ever ( It means I have lost enough body mass that things will fit now!)
The one thought holding me together is that I get to attend my very first Quilt Show this weekend! Yes I am a Quilt Show Virgin, I would uusually stay behind and man the store but this year I will be flogging product!

Pinned it and made it!
Boss Lady whacked me late last year and said.... "see this I think you should make one." Uh uh yup getting right on it. Well I mean I did think about it..... And that's where it sat for quite some time. I pulled up the pin last week and thought oh yeah... I can do that.
So here you are, my version:
There is a sewing machine charm, a small flower button, a little sparkle, one orange button, a few turquoise buttons....... things that I know meant something to her! Of course my photography skills are not the best but my paper weight is pretty spectacular!

Fill in the Blank Friday!
It has been a hugely emotional week round here so glad for something fun!
1. My first memory is being 5 and having my mom tell me how they used to be worried because I din't talk as a toddler and now I won't shut up!
2. My first love was Cleo. She was a black lab something from the SPCA. It was the first time I ever felt that that dog needed me as much as I needed her. I talked to her. Cried at/on her told her all my pre-teen secrets! I cried more when she passed then when my Grandpa died. It was 2 days after my 14th birthday and the same day I got my first job (DQ) that was not berry picking.
3. My very first favorite color was Pink . Being a child of the late 70's that was what you wore.
4. The first time I really felt like a "grown-up" was when I held She Who giggles for the first time!
5. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is groan, look at the clock... curse because I overslept and then bolt for the bathroom.
6. The first CD (cassette tape, record, etc...) I ever bought was BoyzIIMen
7. My first car was a 1986 White Nissan Micra
